JBS Scholastic Winners

The national winners of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards were announced on March 13. The awards, sponsored by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers since 1923, aim to “identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their remarkable work to the world.” Past alumni include Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Robert Redford, and Ken Burns; past jurors include Langston Hughes, Billy Collins, Robert Frost, and David Sedaris. Annually, more than 350,000 works are whittled down into a pool of 2,800 pieces that are recognized nationally.
